A to Z Introduction

The project that I'm currently working on is an A to Z brief. The brief in a nutshell is to come up with an A to Z of a certain topic, and we can publish it in any format we like. I'm going to go against the urge to put it all up when it's done because that goes against the point of my blog, after all, and show you some of the work in progress. My A to Z is Humour and Satire, and involves concepts, famous practitioners and industry in-jokes.

My caricatures definitely still need polishing, but my lines and general skills are improving day by day. It's encouraging to see work I did last year, or even a few months ago, and see how it's changed - especially as this has been quite a challenging year so far. This is both a positive and negative thing - the positive is that I improve due to being pushed to work under pressure, and I buy myself nice illustrator-y things as rewards (like a subscription to MAD Magazine, a copy of Martin Rowson's Gulliver's Travels, along with Fuck: The Human Odyssey, and some good quality inks). F:THO hasn't arrived yet, but I got Gulliver a few days ago and wow. Definitely worth buying, even if you're not into political illustration, purely because of the detail and beauty of the artwork. I plan to do a review along with Martin Rowson's artist feature.
